Dave Wheeler praises Governor Sununu for vetoing Extreme Risk Protection Order Bill, HB687

Dave Wheeler, candidate for Executive Council, praises Governor Chris Sununu for holding the line and vetoing the Extreme Risk Protection Order Bill, HB687. Dave released the following statement.
“For the past 2 years our Second Amendment rights, and our Constitution, have been under direct attack by Democrats in New Hampshire,” Wheeler said. “The only backstop has been Governor Chris Sununu, and I’m extremely proud to have him as our Governor.”
“No Governor in New Hampshire history has stood as strong on the right to keep and bear arms,” added Wheeler. “This veto is another notch in his belt protecting the liberties our forefathers enshrined in our Constitution.”
“As Sununu said in his veto message, this bill went too far and weakened our Constitutional rights,” Wheeler continued. “In America, we believe in due process of law, and this bill would have undermined that considerably. The accused have a right to confront their accuser.”
“If this bill had become law, Granite Staters would have faced searches and seizures of their property and persons without that due process,” added Wheeler. “It’s unconscionable to think that Democrats want to undermine the 2nd, let alone the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments to the United States Constitution.”
“While it’s certainly true that suicide and mental health issues are critical issues to solve, revoking the rights of law-abiding Granite Staters without due process of law is antithetical to New Hampshire’s very core,” Wheeler continued. “Thank you, Governor Sununu, for holding the line for all of us in the Live Free or Die state, for death is not the worst of evils.”
“It is critical to elect Constitutional Republicans on November 3, 2020, so that we can stop the radical left agenda that so frequently involves eroding the liberties granted us by our Creator,” Wheeler concluded. “The Government exists solely to protect these rights, and it ought to remember that.”
Background:HB687 was introduced in 2019 by Debra Altschiller. It was promoted by radical gun-grabbing groups such as Moms Demand, paid for by Michael Bloomberg. As a Founder of the New Hampshire Firearm’s Coalition, Dave Wheeler has fought against all unconstitutional gun bans, gun confiscation plans, and red flag laws.
