The state moved to sell one of the largest properties it still owns for $10.5 million. Dave Wheeler voted no, and the deal was tabled.

Voting to oppose the sale were Councilors Ted Gatsas, R-Manchester, and David Wheeler, R-Milford.

Taxpayers paid for that land over generations. Before signing it away, Wheeler wanted the state to show its work on what the property was actually worth and what the public was giving up. He was willing to be outvoted to force the question into the open.

At that same meeting he also voted against $20,284,407 in broadband grants and a $149,500 consulting contract with a Philadelphia firm, both on his own. That is a normal week for him.
