Governor Craig Benson today announced his endorsement of Dave Wheeler in the Executive Council 5 race. He issued the following statement.
“Dave Wheeler is the clear choice for Executive Council 5,” Benson said. “I am glad to offer my endorsement without hesitation.”
“During my tenure as Governor, I could always count on Dave to keep his word and stick to conservative principles,” added Benson. “We were always on the same page when it came to keeping government limited and spending low while protecting the natural rights of all of our constituents.”
“The voters can trust Dave to uphold the Constitution, uphold conservative values, and defend the Live Free or Die way of life we know and love,” Benson continued.
“Some candidates use those words as talking points and talk the talk – Dave Wheeler walks the walk.”
“As Governor, I stood for conservative principles. Protect life, especially of the unborn, cut wasteful spending, and lower taxes for Granite Staters,” Benson concluded. “Dave always had my back on those fights, and I know he’ll continue to carry the torch of liberty and limited government as your next Executive Councilor for District 5.”
Background: Governor Benson served from 2003-2005. He vetoed a budget passed by Republican majorities in the House and Senate because it spent too much taxpayer funds. Benson also signed a parental notification law for abortion that got upheld by the Supreme Court.
