Dave Wheeler slams Executive Councilor Pignatelli for voting against State Board of Education Nominee, putting politics above people.

“Councilor Pignatelli has repeatedly put politics above what is best for Granite Staters, and today’s vote was no different. She has repeatedly voted against what’s best for students and education in New Hampshire,” Dave Wheeler said. “These votes are shameful, and petty politics like this have no place in New Hampshire, especially on the Governor’s Executive Council.”

“Ryan Terrell would have made an excellent addition to the State Board of Education,” Wheeler continued. “Pignatelli is clearly kowtowing to the NEA and other teacher’s unions, again, in an attempt to thwart Commissioner Edelblut’s plan to expand educational opportunity for all learners.”

“Terrell, who graduated from SNHU as part of the ‘College Unbound’ program – a nontraditional individualized higher learning model, also benefitted from Public Charter School education in his youth,” Wheeler added. “It’s obvious that Pignatelli voted against him because of his educational background.  Ryan Terrell is proof that there are alternatives to a one-size-fits-all education model that empower students to learn and are successful.”

“It’s a shame that Pignatelli and the Democrats on the Council will put their special interest lobbyists above the best interests of children, but they have done so frequently this session,” Wheeler said. “As Executive Councilor I never have, and never will, allow special interests or unions to dictate my voting record.”

“I’m running against a lobbyist in the primary, who donates to the NEA president, and against a puppet for lobbyists in the general. New Hampshire voters will know who stands with them, and will know who has allegiances elsewhere.”
